ELINA BROTHERUSHome and away 28.4.2012 – 20.5.2012
The monograph Elina
Brotherus - Artist and her model (Le Caillou bleu, Brussels 2012) will be
published in connection with the exhibition which will be held together with Lauri Astala. The book contains scientific
articles written by Susan Bright and Timo Kelaranta in addition to photographs.
Most of the photos selected for this exhibition are
from the book. They share a common location, France, which for 13 years has
been my second home country. The series Artist
and her model (2005-2011) concludes the period that began with The New Painting (2000-2004), in which I
use myself as an image element, a distanced figure placed in space and
contemplated through form and composition. A new, personal approach has
gradually crept in over the past years.
