Visual artist Heta Kuchka graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in 2001, after which her works have been widely presented in solo and group exhibitions and festivals in Finland and abroad. In 2006 she was awarded the Young Artist of the Year award and the Finnish Art Association’s William Thuring Prize 2014. In the same year, Kuchka represented Finland with her solo exhibition at the FocusFinland pavilion of the ARCOmadrid art fair. In recent years, Kuchka has expanded her work from installations, photography and drawing to stage works with music and dance professionals and various communities. In her works, she strives to create experiences that the viewer can identify with from her personal experiences. Her works and their processes are united by presence, humanity and warm humor. Kuchka's works are in several domestic collections, such as the HAM Helsinki Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma (Finnish National Gallery), the Oulu and Tampere art museums, and the Paulo Foundation.
